A travelling spirit

As you know, i have often denounced travel. But I was just reconsidering the idea of travel. For many people, travel is a means of discovery and adventure. But travel can be so much more enriching if we were aware of the political connections, and socio-economic roots of the places we visit. Not the kind of traveler who would venture blindly into the unknown, but one who retraces routes according to ideas and insights. The informed traveler is able to go far deeper. To enable meaning in travel, there must also be a sense in which truth and beauty is revealed to us, whether or not it is the urban landscape or natural surroundings. I would like to think that no one has understood this better than you, my traveler friend. And I think I would like to travel this way, with heart, mind and body. Thus begins my conversion towards a travelling spirit.
